I received my second Birchbox last week but I was a bit underwhelmed so I hesitated if it’s worth my time to make a post about it… Harsh, right?!
Originally, I cancelled my subscription but they offered a great deal that if you resubscribed, you will get a Beautyblender sponge and cleanser. So for $10, of course I did!
I got my Birchbox last May 22 but as of today, I haven’t received the free gift yet.
So here are the samples for the Birchbox May 2015. Be the judge…
Dr. Jart Premium BB cream for the face
Macadamia Professional Nourishing Moisture Oil Treatmentfor the hair
Naobay Oxygenating Cream Moisturizing for the face and neck
I got my second Ipsy bag last Wednesday. The hype is real! It’s all over instagram and I couldn’t wait to get my Ipsy!
The theme for the month is Ipsy Jetsetter.
It’s Desi Perkins! I love her!
But what really excites me is the Ipsy bag I received for the month…
I got five deluxe sized products and 1 pair of blister pack sample of lip gloss.
There you have it! I can’t wait to try them all! I particularly love the Urban Decay lip pencil to help me with my liquid lipsticks, the Chella Eyebrow Pencil for fleek eyebrows and the adorable bag!
With my insta-stalking, I found out about Boxycharm. At first, I hesitated because it costs $21, that’s like Ipsy and Birchbox plus a dollar combined. But when I saw that the last month’s Boxycharm consisted of one whole eyeshadow palette, I was like…
Well well well… there was no eyeshadow palette this month. But I wasn’t at all disappointed! I love everything, absolutely everything, in this box!
So what am I all excited about? Let’s see…
I am currently using only onebronzer, The Balm’s Bahama Mama. I’ve got no complaints with that but I’m also willing to try new ones. It’s makeup, be adventurous.
I adore the packaging! It may not fit on my lipstick organizer (check my post here), but I don’t care! I will put this together with my other make-up stash.
I am always on a lookout for the best eyebrow pencil/shadow for me. Why? I am not blessed with good eyebrows plus I got in with the 90s trend of overplucking them. If you want to see what I mean, check my post about this.
It is pretty marvelous when you got something from your subscription boxes that you actually NEED. Besides using this with the Bodyography Essential Brow Trio, I can definitely use this too with my other eyebrow powder.
I left all, as in ALL, of my nail polish bottles and nail stickers at my parents’ house. So this nude, called “Sunset Tower”, is a good addition to my almost non-existing collection of nail products here in the US. But what I love about this is that it’s vegan, Cruelty-Free and a nice basic color to compliment the purple lipstick included here in the box.
It was truly a good first impression for my first Boxycharm. I can’t wait for what’s in store for me next month.
Birchbox partnered with Mad Men to come up with a beauty box, on top of the regular one, this month.
You see, I’ve been loving Mad Men lately and have been binge watching on Netflix. Who doesn’t love the dapper Don Draper, the vixen Joan, the poised Betty and the preppy Peggy?! I love their clothes, their make-up and their accessories that I was even thinking of channeling their fashion sense once I start working again, lol.
So Mad Men basically influenced my decision a lot on why I got the Birchbox for April 2015. For $10, why not give it a try.
Three of the 5 items can be considered deluxe/travel size.
I am not sure though which Mad Men character has inspired this box. I was thinking of Peggy because of the MLBB lipstick and the body wash. For all those who didn’t know Peggy, she was a secretary of Don Draper turned copywriter because she’s smart and ambitious. She works so hard and play hardball with the men around her. She wears considerably simple clothes for that era and wears barely there makeup.
I can see Peggy in me. But I can be Joan too if I want to, *wink*.

I finally got my October BDJ box! I was completely surprised because I didn’t receive any email that my beauty box was on its way.
I was more surprised that I got two boxes! Then, I just died and went to heaven when I saw what’s inside the package. Make-up!
After being revived from my sudden death, I opened the 2 boxes thinking that the contents were different from each other, just like the September BDJ box. Then my feeling of elation changed to curiosity when I found out that they are exactly the same. I’m not sure why I got 2 BDJ boxes. I already emailed their customer service to ask why. I received an Out of Office reply saying that they’ll be able to reply to my message on October 17. Let’s wait and see... (Update: Mistake Proofing)
Going back to my October goodies, BDJ box’s theme for this month is “Express Yourself Fearlessly”. Fierce.
I like BDJ box’s teasers. For this month, their teaser is “Which Type of Girl Are You?”. My friend and I were having a hard time guessing what products we’re going to get for October. Well, it’s a wonderful mind-game and I never imagined that we’ll be receiving Maybelline products. But I did tell my friend that it got something to do with make-up. T’was a lovely surprise! I am quite a make-up junkie (and I had to laugh so hard when BDJ thinks I’m the Queen of Extreme. Because I am, *wink*).
The box for this month consists exclusively of Maybelline products. The boxes are of 6 variants and I got the Queen of Extreme. So far, I saw 2 other types in instagram; Wild Thing and Femme Fatale. Others have different mascaras & lippies. Some have different eye makeup.
So to my fellow royal beauties, here are my Maybelline haul fit for a Queen of Extreme:
I am particularly excited with the Volum’ Express Rocket mascara because I read a lot of good reviews about it and it is one of their new products.
And of course, it wouldn’t be a BDJ box if it doesn’t have a voucher. Plus, they also included a Maybelline Card:
I always get my money’s worth with my BDJ boxes. Total value of all the products is Php 1973 (I don’t know how much a Maybelline make-up remover is so the voucher’s price is not included). For all of these, I only paid Php 580 on their website. So that’s Php 1393 worth of free goodies! 😍
