Review: Curél Itch Defense

I got my Curél Skin Care from Influenster last month. Like in any other Influenster products, they are free/complimentary for testing purposes but my opinion is entirely my own. Yes, my dear friends, FREE, no shipping fee even, all you need to do is give a penny for your thoughts on the products that they will send to you.

I already posted my How-To in YouTube but I have not yet totally provided my review on this product. Please take time to watch it, the video is only 1 minute and 22 seconds, before going further.

Gross? Should have I given a warning that you will see my super dry legs? I admit that I usually don’t pay attention to my legs when it comes to my daily beauty routines because my excuse is I rarely, mostly never, wear shorts nor short dresses. I also came from a tropical country and I usually find lotion on my legs icky especially when I get sweaty. So it is understandable that my legs look that horrendous. Plus the fact that my dad’s legs look like that too. Yes, blame it on the genetic card.

Because of my laziness and genetics, I do feel a little itchiness on my legs when it gets extra dry. If there’s an itch, you scratch, right? Horrible reasoning! There was a time that I scratched it too much that my legs looked like that they’ve been scratched by a naughty cat. Blame it on the imaginary cat.

“Enough with passing the blame”, I told myself. Yes, I talked to myself from time to time, don’t you? So I was excited to get qualified to receive the Curél Itch Defense system and I used it right away and took the video at the same time.

Curél Itch Defense Instant Soothing Moisturizing Spray for Dry, Itchy Skin (6 oz)
Curél Itch Defense Instant Soothing Moisturizing Spray for Dry, Itchy Skin (6 oz)

The Curél Itch Defense Instant Soothing Moisturizing Spray (hmm, mouthful!) that I got is full sized at 6 oz. It is in a hair spray-like container, no cover but you can easily twist it to secure the hole. The first time I opened and pressed it, it sounded like a balloon being deflated. Crazy, I thought it was going to blow up. I also got a hard time pressing it that’s why on the video, I put too much because I couldn’t control it. I am not sure if I got a slightly defective top or most probably I am that of a weakling that I couldn’t do things right! Eventually I got used to it then it became easier to press.

As you can see on the video, it almost looks like a hair mousse. However, it is very easy to apply and it is not greasy! I like its texture, and that it is odorless and has an instant cooling effect. It will be perfect for summer but I don’t think it has SPF so probably you can use it when you’re indoors.

Curél Itch Defense Body Wash 1 fl. oz.
Curél Itch Defense Body Wash (1 fl. oz.)

The Curél Itch Defense Body Wash is a good travel size though normally, you can buy it for 10 oz. I was able to use it up for 3 weeks. It is not too sudsy and has no fragrance as well. It claims that it is “clinically proven to stop the itch before it starts”.

I used the two products for 3 weeks. It didn’t have any significant effect on how my legs look externally but they do feel smoother. Even if it’s getting colder here in the East Coast this Fall, I didn’t feel my legs being itchy due to dryness.

Together with the two products, I also got a $1 discount coupon to buy any Curél Lotion.

So I did.

Curél Ultra Healing Intensive Lotion for Extra-Dry, Tight Skin
Curél Ultra Healing Intensive Lotion for Extra-Dry, Tight Skin

The prices of these products ranges from $6.99 to $8.99. They are dermatologist recommended and has the seal of acceptance from the National Eczema Association so their products are must-try.

Unboxing: Walmart Beauty Box for Fall 2015

Out of all my beauty box subscriptions, Walmart Beauty Box is the only one that I haven’t cancelled… yet. First, it’s only quarterly and for $5 per quarter, that’s affordable. Second, I am quite satisfied so far with what I have been getting from them.

While I was opening my Fall Beauty Box, I just realized that I didn’t post my Summer Beauty Box! I’m sooo sorry… again. The reason why I remember this was because one of the items here was a repeat from my Summer Beauty Box.

I always enjoy watching and reading unboxing posts of bloggers/vloggers so I equally enjoy doing it myself. I was “playing” with my accessories when I decided to do this so without any further ado, here it is:

Revlon Ultra HD Lipstick in Gladiolus (full size) retails at $7.97

Neutrogena Healthy Volume (deluxe size) runs at around $19.66 for its full size

Aussie Mega Hairspray (deluxe size) costs $3.74 for a 17 oz. full size

Schick Hydro Silk Disposables are usually in a 3 items per pack. But according to the Walmart’s website, each can cost $3.02.

For a full sized product of Dove Advanced Care Beauty Finish Anti-Perspirant Deodorant (2.6 oz), you can buy it for $6.68 at Walmart

For a 150 ml of L’oreal Paris Sublime Bronze Tinted Self-Tanning Lotion, you can buy it for $9.91

And the foil packs…

Do you want to guess the “repeat” from my Walmart Summer Beauty Box? It’s the Revlon Ultra HD lipstick in Gladiolus. For $7.97, it more than pays for the cost of the box. So somehow, I am not disappointed because I can easily give this as a gift to any of my friends.

Though I prefer the aerosol type of Dove deodorants, I can see myself bringing this along when I travel.

I am also looking forward to use the Aussie hair spray because I already tried the Aussie hair conditioner and I liked it.

I am also happy with the Schick razor because I am already planning to buy a new one to replace what I currently have.

For the Neutrogena mascara, of course I’m satisfied with it! It’s makeup!

However, I am quite hesitant in using the Bioré Self Heating One Minute Mask. Heat + face isn’t exactly a good combination for someone like me who has a sensitive skin.

I also have never used a self-tanning lotion before because I don’t think my skin is that fair anyway. Though I’m thinking of using it to contour my face or as a bronzer. Has anyone used the L’oreal Paris Sublime Bronze Tinted Self-Tanning Lotion before for the face?

Is anything here a staple on your beauty regimen? Or do you have any bad experience from one or more of these products?

I Know What You Did Last Summer

As we bid adieu to September, I will try to give a gist of what happened to my summer-long hiatus on this blog. I am not going to spill everything (no TMI!), but I will mention here anything that I can think of that is beauty-related and blog-worthy to post.

Let me start with my firsts this summer…

First PINCHme Box

What is PINCHme? According to their website, what you do is “answer a series of questions about your household and shopping habits in the Member Profile. We’ll learn what you like and offer samples just for you.” They are free of charge, no shipping and handling fee and all you need to do is answer the questionnaire on their website set for each sample that you received. I’m sorry if my picture is quite an odd combination (don’t worry, the cheese isn’t a revolutionary facial scrub 😅). Like what I got, you can get a different range of products from beauty-related to food, two things I like 😆.

First Influenster VoxBox

Pictures I posted on my instagram ladyecheboreche for my “To Do List”

My first reaction when I got my I Do VoxBox was, “I do! I do love it!”. Who wouldn’t?!

So what is Influenster? On their website, it is “a community of over 1.5 million social savvy shoppers that: Stay on top of the latest product news & expert tips. Review products, share honest opinions with brands and the community. Test products for free based on social media influence.”

So like PINCHme, you will get to answer surveys for them to determine if you will be eligible for a campaign. For the “I Do VoxBox”, I guess the reason I got qualified was because I would go to a wedding (last August) when I got the survey around June or July. The VoxBox is free of charge as it is complimentary for testing purposes and you will have a fun “To Do List” to earn “badges”. They also have numerous contests that you can participate. I actually won something, ehem.

I love everything in my I Do VoxBox but two full-sized makeup products!!! Happiness, right?!

Covergirl Outlast Stay Luminous in Buff Beige, full size. At Ulta, it costs $12.99.
CoverGirl .12oz Outlast Longwear + Moisture Lipstick 920 Red Revenge, full size. At Target, it retails at $6.99.

You can get your own goodies at https://www.influenster.com

Exciting summer for my firsts!

Now on the second part of this post, I’ll just show every beauty-related products I bought at Walmart, Target, K-mart, Trader Joe’s, Sephora, Ulta and Nordstrom.

Except for makeup. They deserve a different post. 😅

For the Hair…

For the Nails…

For the Face…

For the Body…

…and a Gucci perfume deluxe sample from Sephora

On my next post, it will all be about my summer makeup haul! 😅💄😜

Unboxing: June 2015 Birchbox

I was disappointed with last month’s Birchbox. Honestly, I just resubscribed because I finally got my free Beautyblender sponge.

So I didn’t expect too much this month…

Each box this month has a unique code that you can use to enter on birchbox.com/SayYes wherein you can get discounts, points and other goodies.

This looks promising. There are 6 products all in all.

Two of my least favorite colors: Pink and Orange. But they do look good for summer so I can see past that.

SARAHPOTEMPA Darby Clip
I absolutely love this! This is the “lifestyle extra” included in my box this month. I have thin hair and this clip can hold all of my hair into a bun for that easy-I-dont-care-wearing-my-PJs hairstyle. I know you’re supposed to use this for sectioning when your styling your hair but so far, what I thought of is the most practical one.

Real Chemistry Luminous 3-Minute Peel

First sentence on the “Directions”… “This is not a mask.” Fiiiine, snappy much!? 😅 It says on the box that it is an acid-free peel that you massage to your face until small bead-like dead skin forms. This reminds me so much of this Japanese product, Cure Natural Aqua Gel, that I got on my September 2013 BDJ Box (a subscription box in the Philippines).

Supergoop! Everyday SPF 50 with Cellular Response Technology

That name is a mouthful! But I appreciate sunscreen products anytime! Supergoop is popular for their sunscreen products so I am looking forward in bringing this to my trip to California next month.

Marcelle Waterproof Eyeliner

Because everyone needs an indigo eyeliner when they’re swimming…

Joie Folle de Joie Eau de Parfum

Even if I don’t know how to pronounce this product, I still like perfume samples so this is a thumbs-up for me.

Marcelle BB Cream Golden Glow

I thought it was too dark for my skin but it blended well on the back of my hand as I was swatching it so let’s see when I use this on my face.

Overall Impression

So, am I saying YES to June 2015 Birchbox? Yes, I’m satisfied. I can see myself trying everything on this box.

Pout your lips as you conquer the world. 💋🌍

Unboxing: Too Faced Cosmetics Mini Haul

Remember this? I got my order this week and I’m so excited to show them to you.

The sides of the box…

Too Faced Shadow Insurance

This is my first eyeshadow primer since I don’t usually wear eyeshadow anyway. I heard a lot of good things about this one so I can’t wait to use this not only for my Too Faced eyeshadow palette but also for my new BH Cosmetics eyeshadow.

Too Faced Chocolate Bar Eyeshadow Collection

I heard about this palette first from “From Head To Toe” beauty blogger/vlogger then eventually, it seems like this palette has become  everyone’s must-have.

They also included a cheat sheet/tutorial on how to create different looks using this palette.

I will try my best to try one of these! 😅

I heard that they made some changes with the packaging. There were some complaints on how it looked so bulky and hollow. However I can say that the new packaging is sleeker and made out of durable tin can, or plastic, I’m a bit confused on what’s it made out of but I like it. I’m gearing toward it being a metal though.

So why chocolate? Besides that it’s made with 100% cocoa that makes chocolates, it also smells like cocoa! I want to eat it! When I first showed it to my friend who doesn’t wear make-up, she really thought it was a real chocolate before I opened the packaging!

The colors are so lovely!

The samples

This is their new foundation that will be launched on June 15.

I will use this first before using the full size that I just bought.

The Pocket Damage

You can never go wrong with free shipping and a discount!

Wish me luck! Hopefully I can pull this off!

Unboxing: BH Cosmetics Mini Haul

Remember my post about the BH Cosmetics promo? I got what I ordered online around two weeks ago but something else was needed to be announced urgently that day (aka the Too Faced Sale post) so this unboxing has been moved today.

BH Cosmetics has been popular for some time now in YouTube and several blogs. They are affordable and offer a lot of options especially with their eyeshadow palettes. So when they offered free shipping and free palette, it was time for me to board the ship!

Special Occasion 39 Color Eyeshadow & Blush Palette

I am in love with this palette! The blush palette already has highlighter and bronzer. The blushes are all pigmented and wearable.

The eyeshadow portion has matte and shimmer. I can see myself creating different looks out of these, from daytime to nighttime make-up.

First Edition – 120 Eyeshadow Palette

1 out of 120 was broken

Honestly, I was overwhelmed with all these colors! Some of them quite look alike but I haven’t tried them yet so I will leave my final judgment on a later post, with swatches and make-up looks.

The Mystery Eyeshadow Palette: BH Party Girl After Hours

I intentionally did not open this yet. I checked the YouTube first and images online. I think the Special Occasion will suffice so I’m thinking of giving this to my niece.

The Pocket Damage

Not so damaging at all…

So that’s my first BH Cosmetics haul. I will try to post their swatches and some looks that an eyeshadow noob like me can cook up. 😅😅😅

Review: The Lip Bar Purple Rain Lipstick

I love the color purple! For me, it connotes femininity, elegance and somehow it symbolizes something mystical. I was even beyond ecstatic last year when Radiant Orchid was the Pantone color of 2014.

Source Image: https://www.pantone.com/pages/pantone/pantone.aspx?pg=21128&ca=10

I was even thinking of incorporating the color purple on my church wedding next year…

But I never imagined putting purple on my lips. I am not that risky and adventurous. So there was a bit hesitation, no matter how I love the color purple, when a purple lipstick from The Lip Bar was included on my first Boxycharm.

But I admit, I instantly fell in love with the packaging!

Waaaay too cute!

It took me almost 3 weeks to finally try it. I only did it today because I am feeling blue (pun intended) so I decided to wear a lipstick at home. Everyone feels better with lipstick! 💄

A bit scary…
It is hydrating and leaves a nice stain on the lips. It lasts for hours.

I have been converted! Who would have thought that I will love a purple lipstick! The Lip Bar Purple Rain lipstick made me love the color purple a little bit more than yesterday!

It retails for $20 which is a price that is a bit on the high-end. However, The Lip Bar proudly says that their products are cruelty-free, natural and vegan so it’s worth it. You can check their website at http://www.thelipbar.com.

Unboxing: MAC Wash & Dry Lipstick and Blush

If you’ve seen my previous post where I was announcing giddily the new MAC Wash & Dry collection, it was actually my first time to order MAC products online. I ordered online last Friday so for the last three days, I was, to say the least, restless

The feels…

Alas! It arrived today, on a Tuesday. There’s a mysterious black box right outside my door… And a lot more blackness when you open it.

Black is the new Black

I only ordered two products out of the collection. One was a lipstick, that is already sold out online, and the other one is a blush, my first ever MAC blush. Total pocket damage: $44.52 ($2.52 tax).

The Packaging

The tricolor packaging reminds me of their old collection, the Proenza Schouler.

Source: screenshot from https://www.maccosmetics.com/media/videos/mobilevideos/proenza.mp4

I find the packaging ADORABLE! The green, orange and gold combo of the MAC Wash & Dry collection reminds me of watching the sunset on a beach.

The Lipstick

The lipstick, Tumble Dry, costs $17.50USD.

MAC Wash & Dry lipstick in Tumble Dry is a lustre. I am not a fan of MAC lustre lipsticks. I am more of a satin-matte-amplified kind of a MAC girl. But the color of the lipstick looked intriguing online and I don’t have this particular shade yet. I knew that initially I will be disappointed. But in the spirit of “everything is a first time”, I will try to wear this proudly and with an open-mind. It smells like butter and is totally hydrating to the lips so I guess I’m starting to look at it with a glass half-full.

The Blush

The Hipness blush retails at $24.50USD.

No need to look at the glass half full or half empty. The glass is FULL and OVERFLOWING! I am in L❤️VE with this blush. It has a subtle gold shimmer that is not at all offensive. It is outrageously pigmented that even after a few minutes of rubbing it off, the swatch on my arm is still visible.

Overall

I should have gotten more from the collection, seriously. Especially the lipstick, I should have purchased all four! 😂

It will launch in stores on May 21, 2015. But you can easily go to MAC’s website to check this new collection.

This is how I do my beauty products review: Bare Naturals Seaweed Beautifying And Contouring Mask

– from my tumblr account

I love using a lot of facial masks before but went lazy when I started working. Putting on a facial mask after work seemed not appealing to me when done in the morning (night shift sucks!). So now that I’m in the mid shift and can sleep at night, I’m back to experimenting with facial masks.
I have read a lot about the brand Bare Naturals online and got interested first with their brushes. They are a Philippine-based company selling mineral products ranging from brushes, bath & body and cosmetics. (Check their website at http://mybarenaturals.com/home/index.html ) But one boring night while browsing Zalora.com, I saw their facial mask and it says: “Seaweed Beautifying And Contouring Facial Mask with real Japanese seaweeds… Makes pore smaller, helps dry up acne, cystic pimples, rinse away blackheads. Makes skin supple and smoother. Makes wrinkles less noticeable.” A bit mouthful but you got me with the word beautifying, haha. I checked online if there are reviews about it and I saw a video in youtube (Check her video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yvqMxXx-_d4&sns=em). She seemed convincing so I bought it for Php258.

20131008-030811.jpg

20131008-030857.jpgLucky for me for watching that video because the product doesn’t come with any instructions. Upon opening the pot, you’ll see this light green cream that reminds me of a green tea flavored yogurt that I once ate at Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf. If you smell it straight from the pot though, it’s too minty that you can’t sniff it for a long period of time because it will irritate you. Good thing though that it doesn’t smell as much when it is applied to your face.

20131008-031020.jpgWith a clean face, I spread the product lightly all over my face. It stings a bit on some part of my face but it’s not too scary and it’s really tolerable. Then I spread more until it looks opaque. Wait for 10-15 minutes until it totally dries up.

20131008-031134.jpgThen I washed it off with water. Yeah, I didn’t peel it. I tried but I doubt that the product is meant to be peeled because it doesn’t come off that easily. So like in the video in youtube, I just washed it off.

20131008-031235.jpgI have just used it a while ago. I had a pimple that totally dried up after using it. Helps dry up pimples, check. But it didn’t dry up my entire face. I really think that it brightened up my face too. So far, so good. I will try to use this mask before I go to sleep every other day or everyday if I don’t feel lazy.😛
